Vegas Vegas Vegas!
We are going to Las Vegas this weekend. We are leaving on Friday Morning and coming back late on Monday. I took Tuesday off to recover.

This will be my first vacation this year where I haven't gone to Asheville. I am so excited.

We are leaving around 8am, but with the time difference we get to Vegas around 10am their time. From the airport we will head to our hotel, Mandalay Bay. I have always wanted to stay there, it seemed so gorgeous. I hope that it turns out to be awesome. Since it is at the southern tip of the strip, we plan to check out bags (or check in, depending on the availability) and then go for a walk up the strip. We need to go to the Cirque du Soleil box office to get the tickets for the shows we are going to see. Then we will head to the north strip, the eventual destination will be Slots-o-Fun where Matt wants to get the famous foot long hotdog. Then we'll either walk back or take the monorail.

On Friday night, we are going to see LOVE. It is the Cirque Du Soleil show based on the music of the Beatles. I love to get all dressed up for the theatre, but I can't decide between several dresses that I own, so I will be taking them all with me and seeing what strikes my fancy. After the show, we have reservations at B and B Ristorante, Mario Batale's restaurant. Being a huge fan of the Food Network (and specifically Iron Chef America), I am really looking forward to that meal. Then we might get a drink or two before heading back to Mandalay Bay

Saturday is the only day that doesn't have evening plans scheduled. I have a spa appointment at 11am. I did some research and learned that the spa at Excalibur is one of the cheaper on the strip. And, conveniently, I can take the little tram right from my hotel to that hotel. I have to be there at 10:30 and I have booked an hour long Swedish massage. While I am doing that, [info]oneandonlymatt is going to play Poker. I don't know what else we are going to do on Saturday. We want to check out the pools at Mandalay Bay. We also want to check out this bowling thing at the Rio.

On Sunday, we plan to hang out at a Sports Book to watch the Lions game. We won't bet on the Lions game, but we might do a little betting. For dinner, we plan to grab some Sushi. Then we are going to see Criss Angel: Believe. It is another Cirque du Soleil show, and the entire reason we are going. The show was supposed to premier before now but it got pushed back a lot and the big celebrity premier is not until Halloween, which means the show we are seeing is a "preview" show. I wonder how polished it will be. As cheesy and ridiculous as Criss Angel is, I find him entertaining. Plus, he's Greek and I do love me some Greek Boys.

We leave sometime mid-Monday and we don't get back until late, so I took off Tuesday as well to recover and relax. I haven't had a day off at home in a long time, so it didn't seem like a bad idea.

I'm sorry if I have bored you with this. I just wanted to get my ideas down in this here on-line diary so I could do a comparison after the trip.

Also, on a completely different note, here is a link to my flickr page. I took a bunch of photos of the clearing where we are going to build our tumbleweed house. http://www.flickr.com/photos/13073825@N07/

YAY!!!! VEGAS!!! *bounces around with you*

Hubby and I consider Vegas our second home, like you and your hub's 2nd is Asheville.

The Luxor Spa was wonderful, and Excalibur is owned by the same company, so I'm sure it's spa will be just as luxurious.

For really good Japanese, hit up Hamada of Japan. There's one in the Rio, or if you are renting a car, drive down Flamingo to Paradise.

We saw them setting up all the Criss Angel stuff at the Luxor when we were there in June for my birthday.

Anyway, have some fun for us! We probably won't be going to Vegas anytime soon - kind of burned out on it, since we've been EVERY SINGLE YEAR for the past eight years - but I do love that place with a passion! We've found a new love - Gatlinburg, TN - and we'll likely go there again next year, with some friends in tow.
