As you may know, I host a montly "Lectio Homerica" for the local Hellenic folks in the area. What is that, you say? ( let me give you a little info )
So last night, I had a relatively profound meditative experience. It was the first time in nearly a full year of doing lectio homerica that I have had such a visual experience. ( Aphrodite's Rocks )

I was inspired by
radiantbaby to write my own poem for the Aphrodite libation. Well, inspired both by the poem that she wrote as well as not liking any of the already written poems I found about Aphrodite enough to read them at the libation. I decided I'd write one instead. Yes, it is a sonnet. It is my first real attempt at writing poetry in form, so I'm okay with it if it sucks. But, here it is. (I'm posting it here because I am at work and I want a record of it...though I guess I could have emailed it to myself...anyway...)
Sonnet to Aphrodite
I sing to you O Golden Aphrodite
You have blessed me with a lifetime of gifts
I couldn't know what that bet would bring me
Twelve years ago Aphrodite made tides shift
I call to you blessed immortal Goddess
It is you who brought me to his embrace
His eyes and hands leave me breathless
Feelings I cannot describe or replace
It is your realm, Aphrodite, your domain
In this candy-coated castle in the clouds
It is your will this is how we will remain
As our heart's dedication led to vows
Honored Aphrodite of love and beauty
These libations pour from my heart truly
