We had a great Easter. We invited
reikimaster and
thunder24 over for dinner. Matt and I got an itch to experiment with the Greek Cook Book that his mom got for us. We selected three recipes - an appetizer, a main course and a vegetable.
Our guests arrived around 3 and we opened a bottle of Greek Wine. The appetiser - Greek Potato Croquets - were in the oven. I tortured
reikimaster with some scrapbooks.
oneandonlymatt cooked dinner. The main course recipe was as follows:
Cut 2lbs of lamb into pieces. Brown that in a stick of butter with 2 diced onions. Cover the meat with water and add a small can of tomato paste, salt and pepper and other spices (we went with nutmeg). Cook for an hour or until meat is partially done. Then add either spaghetti or Makaroni (long skinny noodles with a hole in the middle - common in greek cooking) and cook until pasta is done (add water if needed). And let me tell you - that was AMAZING!
After we stuffed ourselves with dinner, we tortured our guests some more by subjecting them to a game of "AtmosFEAR". That game is totally ridiculous.
thunder24 won!
At that point, we were ready for dessert.
reikimaster had made and brought a Bailey's Cake! OMG! It was so delicious. I think the recipe was pretty much yellow cake mix, vanilla pudding mix, chocolate chips and bailey's with a baileys glaze of some sort on top. She left the left over glaze with us. I had a decadent idea to take it camping with us this weekend and make chocolate chip pancakes and put the bailey's glaze on it! Yum.
We had an awesome time. Awesome food. Great company. We'll have to do it again sometime.
This weekend, we head to Asheville for my birthday extravaganza. Yay.
