I just have a few moments before I have to leave for a doctor's appointment.
We had a fairly light weekend in Asheville. The only job on the docket was to kill the mold, which appears to have been dying anyway - with it getting cold and less wet. We got up on Saturday and decided to go get coffee at Zuma in Marshall and then drove around. We wound up in Mars Hill where there was a street fair going on.
We got back to Mt. Matt about noon, had some lunch and then got to de-molding. We used MoldBlaster and sprayed the whole house. Once the mold is dead, we will treat with boracare the next time we go up.
After all that, we went to dinner with our neighbors and a good time was had by all.
Yesterday, we went to see the Lions game at Baylee's Sports Theatre in South Asheville. We won't talk about that.

Last week, instead of going up to Asheville,
oneandonlymatt and I went to the Len Foote Hike Inn. It was actually Matt's Christmas present, but since I had to schedule so far out we didn't go until last weekend. You check in at Amicalola falls and hike 4.9 miles to a lodge in the woods. It has a bunk house, a bath house, a dining hall and a social building. There are pretty outdoor places to watch nature too. Eveything there is done with an eye toward conservation. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it. The hike out was more brutal because I had just hiked 5 miles the day before.
When we reached civilization again we joined
reikimaster and
thunder24 for a game at the Gwinnett Braves Stadium.
Oh, we also saw District 9 last Friday night. I liked it quite a bit. I loved the style and the storytelling. I loved that it was an average person - a cubicle monkey really - who found himself in that situation. I am glad they didn't cast an A List Actor in that role.
This week has been spent pretty much getting ready for Dragon*Con. My costume is done and I am ready to go. Matt is going up to Asheville this weekend with
lerg. I am staying home to get the house cleaned up and pack for D*C.
dreamsidhe arrives next Thursday evening and the fun will begin.
The weekend after D*C, Matt and I are heading to New Orleans for the Lions opening day game against the Saints. Two very different weekends of fun - fandom and football. I am a renaissance Wheezinggirl.

We are back in Georgia after a lovely trip to Michigan where we saw all of our favorite people and enjoyed the holidays. I wanted to record the events here so I could remember:
( One week of Wintery fun! )
And now that we are home we are going to Mazzy's to watch the final Lions game of the year. Wish us luck!

We are about the leave the house for Hartsfield Jackson Airport in Atlanta. We will then board a plane and fly to Detroit. There we will be celebrating Thanksgiving with both of our families.
As the most wonderful
oneandonlymatt summed it up so beautifully:
"Omelettes! Mimosas! Lions! Beer! Thanksgiving! Possibly Aunt Elaine! Frankenmuth! Some sort of Dinner! Dragonmead! Walking Mall! Probably Jim Perkins! Maybe Sunday breakfast! Hairpain*!"
*Hairpain is a term used on the TV show "Jon and Kate Plus 8". It is a guilty pleasure of ours. When they were traveling once all the little kids were saying "Hairpain" and we've co-opted it ever since.
Some of the other events are self explanatory. We will have omlets and mimosas for breakfast tomorrow. Then we watch the Lions V. Titans Thanksgiving day game. We will need beer to get through that. Then we have Thanksgiving dinner, then maybe going to Matt's Aunt Elaine's house for dessert. On Friday we meet my sister and her family in Frankenmuth MI for lunch and shopping then we go to my folks for dinner (the "some sort of" dinner has since been determined). Then we are going with my brother to Dragonmead Brewery. On Saturday we are going to this walking mall with Matt's mom. Then we will be going to see a favorite local artist of ours. Then if we have time on Sunday we'll grab breakfast and then it is back on the Hairpain for Atlanta.
Phew. See y'all on the other side.

Good Morning Faithful Readers.
This weekend,
oneandonlymatt and I went to Charlotte, North Carolina. We left early Saturday morning and arrived in town around noon. For some reason, before going, I had this strange feeling that I was going to like Charlotte a lot. The kind of like where I would want to live there.
As soon as we drove into town, I loved it. In some ways it was like Savannah, GA but with taller buildings. Matt said it reminded him a lot of Vancouver, BC.
We checked into our hotel and dropped off our things and then headed out for lunch. We ended up at Rock Bottom Brewery where I had some tasty Magnolia Brown Beer. I have been learning to drink beer and browns or porters are my favorites so far. I also had an incredible hummus and goat cheese salad with salmon.
Then we wandered around a little more, had a couple more beers and ended up at the Discovery Place - a local museum - to see "A day in Pompeii" - the exhibit was fantastic. They had all originals from the city.
We went back to the hotel for a while and rested before going out for dinner. We ended up at an Irish Pub called Blackfin. The food was great, the beer was great. Then we went to a little bar called Therapy and had another drink and watched some live music.
On Sunday, we ordered breakfast in and then got ready to go over to the Carolina Panthers stadium to watch the Lions game. The day was gorgeous and just a little chilly. The stadium was very nice. The game ended like we expected.
In the end, I did really love Charlotte. But I found myself spending a lot of time thinking about all the great things I love about Atlanta and it really cemented the fact that we are in the right place for us right now. Between Atlanta and Asheville, I couldn't imagine anything better.

Hey all - I just wanted to run though and do a quick update. Things are well, but I am heading into the annual holiday craziness. It is always crazy for us because we do the back to back trips to Detroit.
Last week we spent some time with
reikimaster and
thunder24. We went to the hemlock festival in North Georgia. We saw some music, did some shopping. Then we went for dinner. We always enjoy spending time with them. We've even concocted an evil master plan for taking over the world on New Years Eve!
This weekend we head to Charlotte North Carolina to see our beloved Detroit Lions lose another game. Soon to be 0 and 10, people! When we get home, I have my appointment with the specialist to determine what is up with my gall bladder. I'll keep you all update.
After that, we are hosting our second annual Mocksgiving with
radiantbaby and
mtn_hermit. We make a pre-thanksgiving dinner on the Thursday before during our regular TV Viewing night. last year we made a Turducken. This year, we're going a little more old school.
Then it is on to Detroit for Thanksgiving with the families. When we get home from that, we're hosting our company Christmas party. Then it is the dash to Christmas, possible surgery and another trip to Detroit.
I hope you are all doing well. Please pardon any typos, since this is a drive by post, I don't have a lot of time to edit. I'll fix any errors later that make me look stupid.

Hi All. I just wanted to recap my holiday experience. Move along if you aren't interested.
( On the first day of Christmas... )
However, the other TOTALLY cool news that I found out today...
dreamsidhe is coming down to Atlanta for DRAGON*CON! Yay! Dance! Yay! I am so excited. Some of you Atlanta folk will get to meet her at the con that weekend.

I know I haven't been posting much, and I promise to post something of substance soon...but I just wanted to stop by to say....
"WHOOOOOOO!"
The Lions have done it again! This was an awesome game, highlighted by an interception caught by Shaun Rogers, the fattest guy on our team, and run back for a very exciting touchdown.
Let me just say it again...

There is nothing but goodness happening with my football team. Go Lions! Lions Rock! It is amazing to watch - they aren't even winning by accident. They are actually playing football! This is the first 5 and 2 record at this time in the season since 2000. YAY!

The Detroit Lions have a 4 and 2 record so far this season. Only 10 more games to go! I have been a fan for a very long time, it is good to see the goodness on the football field. Yay Lions.
This is the last year for the Curse of Bobby Layne (http://www.curseofbobbylane.com). He said in 1957 that they wouldn't be a winning team again for another 50 years. There is much debate among fans as to whether or not that included the 07 season or not. Most of us think this year is still cursed, but next year - better watch out...we're heading for the Super Bowl!
