oneandonlymatt told me about I Fight Dragons. They were going to play a show at Dragon*Con. We listened to them and I fell in love! Then we saw them live last week and it was even better.

I told a couple of people to watch some YouTube videos this weekend. Here they are for easy reference

And an old favorite, Charlie the Unicorn. Inspired by a costume we saw of the two unicorns and dreamsidhe hadn't seen it.

I wanted to get the information for D*C 09 down on virtual paper before I forgot. So, in brief, here is what happened:

Last week, instead of going up to Asheville, oneandonlymatt and I went to the Len Foote Hike Inn. It was actually Matt's Christmas present, but since I had to schedule so far out we didn't go until last weekend. You check in at Amicalola falls and hike 4.9 miles to a lodge in the woods. It has a bunk house, a bath house, a dining hall and a social building. There are pretty outdoor places to watch nature too. Eveything there is done with an eye toward conservation. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it. The hike out was more brutal because I had just hiked 5 miles the day before.

When we reached civilization again we joined reikimaster and thunder24 for a game at the Gwinnett Braves Stadium.

Oh, we also saw District 9 last Friday night. I liked it quite a bit. I loved the style and the storytelling. I loved that it was an average person - a cubicle monkey really - who found himself in that situation. I am glad they didn't cast an A List Actor in that role.

This week has been spent pretty much getting ready for Dragon*Con. My costume is done and I am ready to go. Matt is going up to Asheville this weekend with lerg. I am staying home to get the house cleaned up and pack for D*C. dreamsidhe arrives next Thursday evening and the fun will begin.

The weekend after D*C, Matt and I are heading to New Orleans for the Lions opening day game against the Saints. Two very different weekends of fun - fandom and football. I am a renaissance Wheezinggirl.

I got my Dragon*Con costume in the mail yesterday. dreamsidhe's mom made it for me. Considering I wasn't there for a single fitting and she had no pattern, it is amazing. I just have to tweak a couple little things for it. I also have to make a couple of the accessories. I have a few things already and I just ordered a couple things from ebay as well. I have to go to Michael's for the rest.

D*C is only 7 weeks away! Squee!

So, here are the events as I remember them. My report won't be as good at dreamsidhe's account, so feel free to refer to her page as well. We did pretty much spend every minute together, so it is an accurate description of my weekend as well.

The weekend was fantastic. Truthfully, it was one of the best weekends I have had in recent memory. I can't wait for D*C 09. We are even planning some new costumes. We're hooked!

I can't believe Labor Day weekend and Dragon*Con are finally here. dreamsidhe will be arriving in Atlanta tomorrow. It is the first time I will have seen her since Christmas! Super Squee!

I am all packed up and ready to go. I just need to pack a few last minute things tonight. Then I just have to make it through the work day tomorrow. I will be by myself, so that will be hard without any distractions.

Yay for DC. I will see you all there!

I have already begun packing for Dragon*Con. I have my two costumes and the dress part of dreamsidhe's costume in a garment bag hanging in the closet. This is going to be such a long week. Piglet is sharing my lap with my laptop, making this terribly difficult to type. Silly cat.

I don't really have anything else to say. I guess I'll go do something useful for now.

Oh, and I put my costume on today for no reason except to prace around for a few minutes. It makes me feel pretty.

I sent a CD to dreamsidhe to get her into the Dragon*Con spirit. She just received it, so now I can share the mix with my adoring fans.

Also, I received dreamsidhe's costume via UPS. It is crazy complicated!

I cannot wait until Dragon*Con! Whoo hoo.

Dragon*Con is in only 16 days. The most exciting part for me is that dreamsidhe is coming to visit.

That being said, I wanted to mention that if any of my Atlanta friends are interested in hanging out with the wonderfully fun dreamsidhe let me know and we can work out a meet up. Such meet ups may be subject to change based on the actual Dragon*Con schedule. We will be at the con from Friday evening until early Monday morning. And if you are not going to be at the con proper, maybe we can meet you for a meal somewhere downtown.

dreamsidhe is coming down to Atlanta for DRAGON*CON! Yay! Dance! Yay! I am so excited. Some of you Atlanta folk will get to meet her at the con that weekend.
